Help Childrenz Haven as a Volunteer
Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering with Childrenz Haven. There are many different kinds of volunteer opportunities at Childrenz Haven and we appreciate you sharing your special talents and skills with us. As an agency we rely on big-hearted volunteers like yourself in order to provide our community with the best possible services.
To get started, you're required to submit an application packet with the following documents:
Copy of Driver’s License
Once we have received your completed application packet, we will contact you to schedule an interview. Please submit your application via fax, email, or mail. If you have any questions, please contact the Childrenz Haven office at:
Phone: (936) 327–4757
Fax: (936) 327-4767
Mail: 913 N. Washington, Livingston, TX 77351
All individuals interested in volunteering must submit a completed Volunteer Application Packet and provide references. The screening process for volunteers includes an interview and a criminal background check. All individuals interested in participating as a direct services volunteer (or volunteers anticipating any direct contact with clients) must attend a volunteer training which reviews the basic principles of child abuse and goes over how to provide trauma-informed support to children and families. In order to work directly with the children we serve, you must be 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license or government-issued ID.
Volunteering for direct services is a wonderful opportunity for undergraduate students to spend time observing and interacting with children and victims of abuse and other traumatic events. Internships also allow students to get a feel for how to navigate the inner-workings of a nonprofit agency. We value the opportunity to help others grow and will tailor our internship program to make sure you get the most out of your internship with us.
Direct Services Volunteers:
The primary role of our direct service volunteers is to make our children and families feel safe and comfortable while visiting our agency. Volunteers greet and welcome these child clients and their non-offending family members to our center. Volunteers provide supervision for clients in a child-friendly setting and interact appropriately with families to provide comfort and support while maintaining client confidentiality.
Direct services volunteers must be available for shifts only when there is a child scheduled to visit the agency, so some flexibility is necessary. Shifts are during the week (Monday - Friday) between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Indirect Services Volunteers:
Childrenz Haven has many needs outside of direct client services. Volunteers provide a variety of support for our agency including:
Community Education and Prevention
Special Events and Fundraising
Administrative and Maintenance Support
Volunteers sign up for events and activities throughout the year. Events can be during the week, after hours, or on weekends. Events can include staffing community events like agency booths at health fairs, Child Abuse Prevention Month activities, and events for specific seasons.
Help is especially needed for our two annual fundraisers: Casino Gala in February and Bass N’ Bugs in May.
