CACs Create Safe Places to Begin Healing
A child who has been abused is forever changed. Child victims of abuse need the careful attention of professionals trained to address their special needs. In the past, each victim seeking help faced multiple contacts with different community professionals, creating a maze of confusion for the child and family. Repeated investigative efforts in each location re-victimize the child, lessen the quality of the legal case against the abuser, and increase the therapy required to help the child heal. Therefore, Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) were created. With the support of the community, the CAC enables the child to come to one place for safety, protection, and justice instead of going from agency to agency.
